Maine Coon kittens

On the first of June, the day of our Ruby wedding anniversary Zita surprized us by giving us 8 kittens. We named them according the occasion. We have a Ruby Wedding, June Bride, Tuxedo Groom, I Do, Maid of Honor, Best Men, Fower Girl and True Love.

Op 1 juni,de dag van onze 40ste huwelijksverjaardag gaf Zita ons een kadootje in de vorm van 8 kittens. Naar aanleiding van de dag werden de kittens, Ruby Wedding, June Bride, Tuxedo Groom, I Do, Maid of Honor, Best Men, Flower Girl en True Love genaamd.

Sadly our joy is short lived because in the first 2 weeks we loose our precious True Love, Flower Girl and I Do. Mum Zita was simply overwhelmed by all those kittens and despite our best effords we could not safe them.

Ons geluk was echter van korte duur. In de eerste twee weken verloren we True Love, Flower Girl en I Do. Mama Zita was gewoon overweldigd door al die kittens en ondanks haar en onze beste zorgen konden we hen niet redden.

Now the kittens are almost 5 weeks old and we are weening them. It all goes well now. Mum has calmed down and is a good mother now. We are looking forward to the next 9 weeks.

Inmiddels zijn de kittens bijna 5 weken en we schakelen hen stilletjes aan over naar vlees. Het gaat goed nu.Mama heeft de truc te pakken en is nu een goede mama.We kijken met vertrouwen uit naar de volgende 9 weken. Ondertussen zoeken we nog een fantastisch huisje voor 3 van de kittens.

En dit is m'n speciale helpertje. Ze is erg lief met de kittens en heeft een grote voorliefde voor de tortie meisjes, June en Ruby.

Bridgewater kittens

Heel de zomer heeft in teken gestaan van de drie kittens die op 10 juli geboren zijn bij Gentlefriend's Patchwork. We hebben ze genoemd naar 3 verschillende serviezen van Emma Bridgewater.
Het rode poesje heet Summertime Tulip
Het blauw tortie met wit poesje heeft Love and Kisses
Het blauw met witte katertje heet Starry Skies.

The whole summer we took care of our little trio of Maine Coon kittens.
We named them after different Emma Bridgewater pottery designs.
We had a blue and white boy called Starry Skies, a blue torbie with white girl we called Love & Kisses and a red tabby and white girl we called Summertime Tulip.

Onze kleindochter van 2 heeft er een geweldige zomer door achter de rug. Het is super om de interactie tussen haar en de kittens te zien.
Our granddaughter of 2 years old had a great time with them.

Inmiddels zijn de kittens groot genoeg om naar hun nieuwe huisje te vertrekken.
De meiden blijven samen en gaan naar Nederland toe en het katertje gaat naar West Vlaanderen.We hopen dat ze een geweldig leventje krijgen en dat we nog af en toe wat van hun horen.
The little ones now are gone to their new homes where they are loved and spoiled.

Vrijdag en zaterdag is het zo ver en nemen we afscheid van deze schatjes. Het gaat jullie goed!

Een nieuwe quilt a new quilt

Herinneren jullie zich dit stapeltje lapjes?
Wel, deze lapjes zijn uiteindelijk terecht gekomen in deze quilt.

A pile of cat fabric made it in to this quilt. It features a big red cat that is famous in our part of the world and is name is Dikkie Dik.

Het is een Dikkie Dik quilt geworden want daar is de aanstaande moeder voor wie ik deze quilt in opdracht voor maakte naar het schijnt gek van.

Hij is weer volledig met de hand gemaakt en meet 100 x 150 cm. Een mooie maat voor op een kleuterbedje of voor aan de muur.

Ik hoop dat de opdrachtgever en de toekomstige eigenaars er blij mee zijn.

Poezemieke Kitty Girl

Van sinds ze heel klein is is ons kleine popje gek van mijn katten. En ja, er lopen er hier behoorlijk veel rond dus ze kan er niet langs kijken.Voor het ogenblik zijn het er weer 8 want de drie kittens die zijn net de deur uit.
Ze speelt het liefste met het kattenspeelgoed en het katteneten en een van haar eerste woordjes was 'poe'.
From the time she was a very small girl my little granddaughter was crazy about our cats. She plays with the catfood and the cat toys and one of her first words was 'poe' .You must know that 'poes' is flemish for a female cat.

Nu heeft ze sinds vorige week een bordje van Emma Bridgewater gekregen waar ook poesjes op staan en de grote sport is van zo snel mogelijk haar bordje leeg te eten zodat ze het poesje in het midden van het bordje kan zien. Ze heeft altijd grote pret wanneer dat gebeurd!

She now eats from an Emma Bridgewater plate with kitty's on it and she enjoys eating from it a lot.

Sinds deze week zegt ze op een allerschattigste manier 'poesjes' en dat doet ze dan ook wel honderd keer op een dag. Alle poesjes krijgen kusjes, ook de metalen deur openhouders in de vorm van een poes. Ik heb nu eenmaal poezen in alle soorten maten en materialen.

Het kon dus niet langer dat dat arme schaap geen poezenrokje of jurkje had. Dus toen ons poezemieke haar middagdutje deed heeft oma haar kattenstofjes eens uitgehaald en in een half uur een rokje met poesjes gemaakt.
Daar moest toen natuurlijk ook nog een T-Shirtje bij....Een uur en 9 euro later had het kind een volledige nieuwe outfit bestaande uit een rokje, een nieuw T-Shirtje en een nieuw paar broekkousen.

Since this week she can say 'poesjes=kitties' in the most adorable way and it was no longer possible that this little kitty girl had no skirt of dress with kitties on. So during naptime, granny took out her cat fabrics and created a little skirt and T-Shirt. For less then 10$ she had a totally new outfit.

Nog even gedag zeggen aan de poesjes....

Voor Nanu For Nanu

Dat Nanu een heel bijzonder poesje is voor mij, is voor diegenen die me kennen al wel duidelijk. Ik heb haar dan ook helemaal met de fles opgevoed daar moeder Patchwork geen zin had in het moederschap en ook geen melk had.
Nanu is nu verhuisd naar een cattery in Nederland waar ze het ontzettend naar haar zin heeft. Omdat ze volgende week voor het eerst op show gaat heb ik iets bijzonder voor haar gemaakt.

Our kitten Nanu is very special for me since I raised her with the bottle. She now lives in a fantastic cattery in Holland. She will go to the cat show for the first time next week and I made her something special.

Bij de firma Spoonflower ontwierp en bestelde ik stof met haar naam op en ook de naam van de cattery.

Van deze stof maakte ik een volledig showsetje en van de overschot maakte ik een omslag voor haar gezondheidsboekje en een zakdoek etui voor haar baasje.

From this fabric I made a full showset, containing a cover for her health book, a tissue holder for her owner, two curtains and two covers for the top and the bottom of the cage.

Op de bodem van de kooi en op het dak van de kooi komen deze twee met fleece gevoerde quiltjes.Deze zullen haar het lange wachten aangenamer maken en haar warm houden in de winter.

For the top of the cage and for the bottom of the cage these two quilts backed with fleece will keep her warm and comfortable.

Het laatste nieuws The latest news

Niet te geloven dat het al weer 14 dagen geleden is dat ik een blogje schreef en ik was zo goed bezig. Maar ik heb het erg druk gehad en er is veel gebeurd.
Ons katertje Polar Bear is weer terug bij ons komen wonen. Het klikte niet tussen hem en zijn eigenaar.... Dat was tenminste de uitleg.
Hij woont nu bij m'n dochter en gaat daar als een speer. Heerlijk lief en knuffelig en hij wordt nu Beertje genoemd.

Our little Polar Bear came home again and now lives with my daughter.

Daar de auto quilt zo goed als klaar is heb ik besloten eindelijk te beginnen aan de babyquilt die ik een collegafokker beloofd heb. Het wordt de zoveelste kattenquilt. Dit zijn de stofjes die ik ga gebruiken. Later meer hierover.
These are the fabrics for the new quilt I am going to make for another Maine Coon breeder.

Onze allerliefst poezenprinses Nanu is gaan wonen bij haar nieuwe baasjes. Ze wordt daar vereert als een echte prinses. Naar we horen is ze van de duivel niet bang en is het of ze altijd al daar gewoond heeft.
Ander kattennieuws is dat vandaag de kater Usquebough en de poes Patchwork alle twee weer goedgekeurd zijn wat betrefd HCM.
De kleine kittens van het Cupcake nest zijn inmiddels 4 weken en doen het uitstekend.

Our beautiful princess Nanu has gone to Holland to live there. It seems she was at home from the first minut she arrived.
Our cats Usquebough and Patchwork have gotten the all clear from the vet and the kittens from the Cupcake litter are doing great!

Caitlin's Trio

Saterday morning, a day later then expected the kittens of Caitlin where born. We have a giant white guy and two blue tortie little girls. Mother and kittens are doing well. Zaterdag ochtend heeft Caitlin, een dag later dan verwacht, in een uurtje tijd haar drie kittens ter wereld gebracht. Vrijdag had ze ons al de indicatie gegeven dat haar tijd daar was maar na een uur of drie gewaakt te hebben bij haar heeft ze de bevalling opgehouden en is terug in haar dagelijkse routine gevallen.Wij waren niet zo blij met dat uitstel want zaterdag verwachtten we drie Nederlandse Maine Coon liefhebbers,waaronder de nieuwe eigenaar van onze Nanu. Zij kwamen Nanu nog eens knuffelen.
Maar Caitlin besliste dus om voor die dag nog voor een tweede attractie te zorgen.
S'morgens om half zeven begon ze hartstochtelijk te roepen naar mij. Ik ben in m'n kleren gesprongen en ben naar haar toe gegaan. Ik zag dat ze haar vruchtwater verloren was en gelijk sprong ze ook in de kraamkist. Eens dat ik er was wilde ze er wel aan beginnen.Om kwart voor 8 begon ze te persen wat na een kwartiertje resulteerde in een prachtige grote dikke witte kater.

Nauwelijk een kwartiertje later gevolgd door een blauw torbie poesje. Tegen dat zij geboren was was m'n dochter ook gearriveerd.

Een half uurtje later werd kitten nummer drie geboren. Het was weer een blauw torbie poesje.
En toen was het gedaan. Wij waren een beetje geschrokken dat het bij drie bleef want Caitlin was behoorlijk zwaar geworden. Maar het is bij deze drie gebleven.
Het zijn prachtige typevolle Maine Coontjes. Hoog op de poten, lange staart, zware oorpluimpjes en goede forse bekjes.

Op de naampjes zullen jullie voorlopig moeten wachten want we geraken er maar niet uit.
Caitlin is een zeer relaxe moeder die haar kleintjes goed verzorgd maar hun ook rustig alleen laat. Andere poezen mogen ook op bezoek maar stiefpapa Ush die wordt weggejaagd.

We gaan er dus weer voor om deze drie prachtige babies gezond te doen opgroeien!

Happy New Year!!!

First and formost I wish you all a very Happy New Year. I wish you health, happiness and peace.
A lot of festive days have past since the last time I blogged.
In Belgium we started on the 6th of December with St Nicolas day. The day that all good children get presents and candy.For the first time in years we celebrated this again. With our new granddaughter Anne-Fleur it was the ideal year to do so. She is of course only 7 months old and thus not get the spirit of the day. Chewing presents was the big joy of her day! The typical candy, chocolate, fruit and of course the speculaas went to her mom and dad who accepted it gratefully. I think next year she will have her say about that!For the adults there was of course cake.A very simple chocolate cake adorned with the typical Saint Nicolas candy. Golden coins (with chocolate inside), nic nac's ( the small sugared cookies ) on the side and on top and some lovely little chocolate Saint Nicolas plaques I found at the bakery shop.It was years agoo that we had so much snow. I began snowing the first friday of december. So at Saint Nicolas day we took these pictures of Anne-Fleur. She sits on the sled of her dad and auntie that I kept for more than 30 years. She was a bit afraid. It was bitterly cold and her mom did not take her in to the snow before since she had been in hospital ,two weeks before. But I thought we could not pass up this opportunity to get pictures of her in the first snow of her life.She did not enjoy it that much.I think she was even a bit scared of it.

In each case the snow lasted just until Christmas and we had the first white Christmas since 1986 I believe. The next day it started raining and it was all gone.
In the mean time our little kittens grew up to be little white and blue fluff ball's. You can't contain them in a small area anymore! They want to play! Polar Bear is kissing the Steiff snowman. He has found a good home in Holland.

Sadly we have one handicapt kitten in the litter .You see him at the far left in the picture below.

All four bones in his front legs are bent. He will always be handicaped. But the good news is that if he has a good chance to live a painfree and happy life, he will have a loving home with the parents of our Brandaen of with my daughter.

Trying to snap a group picture is not that easy as you can see!

Shortly after Saint Nicolas day I set up the Christmas tree.
I try to make a different tree every year. That you can see if you look for the post ' Christmas in July'.
This year I used fresh green, covered with transparent plastic pearls, glass baubles, porcelain balls with flowers. Some metal and glass danglely things, some mirrored snowflakes and the collection of Snowbabie ornaments I started for Anne-Fleur. And of course my favorite ornaments of all could not be left in the cellar. My white glass birds are almost every year in my Christmas tree.
Lily our youngest Maine Coon is facinated with the tree .She had never seen one before. She took out one of my green glass balls in the first days. After that she became a good little girl and only sleeps beneeth the tree on the white fleece blanket that is covering the base.

I did not do a lot of other Christmas decorations this year.I only made place to put my Snowbabies out since this year I bought the nativity set of it.

Even the Christmas dinner table was simple but classy. Floral tablecloth in blue and cream with a simple flower decoration and some candles.
This is it for today. Tomorrow I start preparing the New Year dinner I do for my inlaws. They will come on sunday to celebrate the New Year. Today, the first of january will be a day to start preparing, like ironing the table cloth and preparing the cakes.

Tree or more....kittens

I'm sorry I did get of track and left you all waiting for news and a new entry for "Three or more".

All boys and OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH so sweet.

How lovely Christmus will be with all these little chaps running around our feet!!!

Tree or more antiques with cats

Ever since we have cats, we also collected art and antiques with cats. You already seen my oil paintings.
This is one of my very first Ebay buys. It's a teapot from the Wood factory. It is a bad example since the body of the teapot is very pitted but I love the shape.

A small French mustardpot with a white kitten as a handle. Usualy you see the milk can with this kind of design so I thought this mustard pot was kind of special

This little piece is made of metal.I think it may be cold painted bronze. I love the little cat with the tub on its side.It's ideal to put your pins and needles in.

This porcelain figure is so ugle that its becomes lovely.I love this one very much just because he is so ugly.

This are two Artd Deco craquelé pieces. The cat in the middle is very royal. In the front you see two little book stands. Both very lovely pieces and also my absolute favorites.
