Dress form

You have seen this dress form before in my topic about a beautiful poppy. But here it is again. I found it a lot of years ago in an antiqueshop and even when it looks to be a child size it is not. It has a bust and a waist!!! So it is an old miniature dress form.
The little vintage dress came my way true a student of mine who wore it when she was a small girl. The dress must be about 80 years old by now.
But now I have found another use for my little dressform!

Jullie hebben dit kleine mannequintje al eerder gezien in mijn topic over de prachtige klaproos uit m'n tuin. Maar hier is het nog eens. Ik heb het jaren geleden gevonden in een antiekwinkel en ook al lijkt het een kindermodelletje het is het niet. Het heeft nl. een taille en een buste!!! Het is dus een oud miniatuurtje.
Het jurkje kreeg ik van een oud cursiste. Zij droeg het als kind en het jurkje moet nu zo'n 80 jaar oud zijn.
Maar nu heb ik een niewe manier gevonden om het het te gebruiken...
I now use it to photograph the baby shirt on that I make!! There is a new little Etsy shop on the way and I will be selling these sweet little shirts in it. The shop will be called BlumaBlue and I will keep you informed when it opens.

Ik gebruik het nu om de baby shirtjes op te fotograferen die ik maak. Er is nl. een kleine Etsy shop in de maak en ik hoop daar oa deze shirtjes te gaan verkopen. Het winkeltje zal BlumaBlue heten en ik hou jullie op de hoogte wanneer het zo ver is.

Aren't these sweet old pictures lovely? I add some vintage or new lace to them and adorn them with vintage buttons and sometimes embroidery.

Zijn deze oude plaatjes niet heerlijk? Ik versier ze met oude of nieuwe kant en een oud knoopje en soms ook wat borduurwerk.

This is one of the latest shirt I made. It was a gift for my daughters co-worker who became mom to little Rufus!

Dit is een van de laatste shirtjes dat ik maakte.Het was een kadootje van m'n dochter voor een collega die mama geworden was van de kleine Rufus!

I just love making things for babies!

Ik vind het gewoon heerlijk om babyspulletjes te maken!

The lesser trift shop buy and a little give away!!

Not all of these are bad buys . I loved the little terrine in the forground so I brought it home. It looked all right but sadly when I took of the sticky tape that held the cover in place I noticed that the cover was severly cracked. I was pretty dismaded about it bacause it looked like a cover up operation.
The same with the cups. I loved these pretty Bavaria cups with Dutch landscapes and immediatly tought of my Dutch blogfriends. I took them home and I gave them a good wash and noticed that two of the five cups had fleabite chips on the rim. So sad because I did not noticed them when I bought them.

Never the less I still think they are quite special .

They all have different provinces on the front and also on the back there are little scenes of Holland. I have Friesland, Zeeland, Holland, Brabant and Drente..

Aren't they sweet???

Trift shop stop nr 3

I have never been so often to the trift shop then in the last week and I made some good buys and some lesser buys. This iron rack I think is one of the good buys.When I saw it I new I did not want to leave the shop without it.Where I am going to put it I do not know but I wanted it!!
Immediatly when I saw it I had visions of overflowing pots full of summer flowers and afterward I had the idea that this rack would also work for a big summer party. Can you imaging it full with plates af delious food and cakes???
There are also places for two planks that would be usefull to put plates and glasses on...O, I wish that I had a reason to fill it and have a big party !!!



Another buy I am very pleased about it this nickle plated samovar. I tought it would be a fun thing to have. I had no idea it was plugged for electricity when I bought it. I only saw this when I opened it at home to see that the electric cable was with it.
And low and behold the thing worked!!! I added vinegar to de scale it and now it is clean and ready to use! But as you can see I have another somovar, a little one. This I already had for years and years. It was one of my first 'antique' buys. Never used or displayed but always kept. Now it has a big brother, I finally can give it a place in my home.



With my new shabby chic style interior I hated the fact that the cats where eating from an ugly plastic container. I already changed their drinking bowl from plastic to an old porcelain lion head bowl I had lying in the cellar and now I found another lionhead Bavaria porcelain terrine to do there kibbles in.
The cats seams to like it and eat a lot less messy from this bowl. It was a steal a 3,5 euro. Why would you eat out of plastic it you can eat out of porcelain???

Trift shop 2

When I was at Troc again this week I thought I found a real gem. You must know, I collect Luxval glass. Many of you will not know this glass but a lot of you may know the famous Belgian crystal of Val saint Lambert.
Well, VSL made Luxval glass in the depression when people did not have the money to buy expensive cut crystal.
The produced a line of really beautiful Art Deco vases and other objects. I have a collection of more then 100 pieces.
So, I was very pleased when I saw this vase in the shop and it costed only 4 euro! What a find! I did not have this model, it is called Come and the price was a real steal. These prices of these vases go from 30 euro up to 150 euro sometimes.... Sadly my joy was not long lived because I say a huge big crack in the glass...It came home with me anyway because even with this huge crack, 4 euros was still a steal.

Wanneer ik weer eens bij Troc was dacht ik de koop van m'n leven gezien te hebben. Deze prachtige vaas van het merk Luxval stond er en ze kostte maar 4 euro.
Luxval is het glas dat de beroemde kristalfabriek van Val saint Lambert maaktte in de depressie jaren toen de mensen geen geld hadden om het beroemde geslepen kristal te kopen. Ze fabriceerden een prachtige reeks Art Deco glas. Ik heb er een colletie van van rond de 100 stukken.
Ik was erg blij toen ik deze vaas zag want dit model, Come genaamd, had ik nog niet.
Ze kostte bovendien maar euro wat een echt koopje is want deze vazen halen prijzen van tussen de 30 tot 150 euro soms.
Helaas was mijn vreugde van korte duur want ineens zag ik de reden waarom deze vaas zo goedkoop was. Er zat nl een enorme scheur in...Maar ik heb haar toch mee naar huis genomen want zelfs met scheur is 4 euro nog altijd een koopje.

Trift week has started

Trift week has started. I do not have a lot of chance to look for nice things in trift shops because I do not drive a car!!!
But..I have a Troc at 200 meters from my door and from time to time I can find some nice things their. Not at the prices you girls find things but still not to expensive.
Troc is the kind of shop where you can bring your old things to and they sell it for you. Helas a lot of things they sell are brand new.
But I found this little birdcage. It is an old one and I decorated it with a little nest I bought for decorating at Easter and a small oilpainting with doves I bougth some years agoo from Ebay USA.
It is a lovely group I think and I am very pleased with it.

Dierbare kunst Precious art

Ik zal jullie een hoekje van onze keuken laten zien.


Toen we zo'n maand geleden alles geverfd hebben moest en zou de decoratie ook veranderd worden en zoals men zegt alles komt terug. Zo zijn ook deze oude puddingvormen terug uit de kelder opgediept. Het zijn de allereerste brocante dingetjes die ik zo'n 25 jaar geleden gekocht heb. Ze hebben al eerder jaren in de keuken gehangen maar bij de vorige make-over zijn ze naar de kelder verhuisd. En nu zijn ze weet terug!

De tekening die eronder hangt is het geboortehuis van mijn overgrootmoeder. Zij had een heel bekend café in Hasselt dat nog altijd bestaat. Zo'n 10 jaar geleden is de zijgevel naar beneden gestort maar het huis is weer heropgebouwt en er is nog altijd een café in. Dat nu al voor meer dan 100 jaar. De tekening is van een kunstenaar uit de buurt van Hasselt, Steven. Hij heeft het huis speciaal voor mij getekend en ik kreeg het van m'n ouders kado toen we 25 jaar getrouwd waren. Daarom wilde ik graag ten allen prijze laten hangen in m'n keuken.



Aan de andere zijde van de keuken hangt dit olieverfschilderij. Een van de weinige vonsten dat ik deed in een tweedehands zaak.Het kostte maar 125 euro en het zat in een zwaar massief houten, gouden lijst.
Deze lijst maakte het schilderij echter te massief voor de keuken. Daar had ik het nochthans altijd willen hangen want met z'n onderwerp van brood, eieren en koffie is het voor een keuken gemaakt.
Nu zonder zijn lijst is het perfect op z'n plaats in de frisgeverfde keuken.




There for I want you to see a bit of my kitchen. On the wall are the old pudding moulds that spend years in the cellar. They where the very first brocante things I ever bougth.

After being on the wall for a length of time they disappeared to the cellar to be hung up again after we painted the kitchen last month.

The drawing beneath is is a drawing of the pub of my great grandmother. It still stands even after more then 100 years and it is still a pub. The artist, Steven drew it especially for me, so it had to be back on the kitchen wall at all cost. My parents gave it to us for our silver wedding anniversary.

The other painting hangs at the opposite wall of the kitchen and is one of the few good buys fron the second hand shop. It came with a massive wooden and gilded frame that was far to heavy for my kitchen. I love this oilpainting and with its subject of eggs, coffee and bread it was made for a kitchen.
Without its massive wooden frame it is perfect on this wall.
